Drawing a portrait can be a daunting process but it is a skill that can be learnt and developed. Join artist Hettie Rowley for our weekend workshop and learn the fundamentals of portraiture using charcoal and/or graphite.
Hettie will teach you the basic rules of proportion and dimensions of the head and face, and share tips and techniques to help you master facial features such as the eyes, nose, mouth and ears.
You will also learn how to use tonal elements to give shape and form, and how to capture the essence of your subject from a photograph.
This class is suitable for beginners to intermediate.
All drawing materials are included in the price, however we do advise you to wear an apron or old clothes, and that you bring along the following:
- Chamois cloth or any soft cloth
- Old soft paint brush
- Easel (Table or free standing)
- Old towel (for catching dust)
- Wet wipes
- Photograph for portrait *
